Booking.com 便利ですよね。でも、こんなことが起こりうるのだということを皆さんに知ってほしかったです。
英国人の友人に例の宿主が送ってきたメールを転送し、どう思うか尋ねてみました。
私の友人なので、当然、私に同情的なのですが、こんな返事をくれました。

I was sorry to hear about your trouble with the accommodation. Websites such as Booking.com exist so people can leave honest reviews. Most people in the UK consider this a good thing, since owners and managers should have to improve their service. Unfortunately, you had a bad experience. I hope you understand you have done absolutely nothing wrong!

(宿主) sounds like a complete idiot. I'm sorry you had to come across such a wally on your travels. It is clear from his tone that he is not serious about taking care of his customers. In the UK, we have an expression, "The customer is always right." (I'm sure you know it). For him to be so defiant is not only rude, but terrible customer service. I'm not sure how he read your comments either (probably via an online translator - and we both know how useless those are!)

Oh, and I'm sure you don't need me to tell you just how BAD his English is!!! I was appalled! "HAVE LOOK AFTER YOURE BACK FOR 3 DAY" I had real trouble understanding this!

I'm not sure what Booking.com can do. But it was a good idea to advise them. I agree, it is very unfair.

I'm not sure (宿主) will charge your credit card. But perhaps it's best to advise your credit card company not to accept any charge from him - that it would be an unauthorised payment. I think that's the best idea. I hope I'm not too late to send this email to you.

この掲示板に投稿してからかなり時間がたちましたが、この宿主に対して、宿泊前も、宿泊中も、その後のトラブルにおいても、なあなあにせず、自分の意見を主張してきてよかったと改めて思います。
Booking.com がこの宿主に「客とのやりとりにおいてはプロとしての丁寧な対応をすべきだ」と伝えた、という点には満足しています。
